PASSION FOR COMPUTERS
SIGN IN TO AOL AUTOMATICALLY:
1.  On the AOL Toolbar, click Settings.
2.
 Click Startup Settings.
3.  Check
Automatically Sign On With This Screen Name When I Open AOL.
4.  Click
Save and OK.


STOP SIGNING INTO AOL AUTOMATICALLY:
1.  On the Sign-On screen, click the Save Password box to remove the check mark.
2.  Delete the password.
3.  Click
Save.


GET RID OF THE WELCOME SCREEN SEARCH BOX:
1.  On the AOL Toolbar, click Settings.
2.  
Click Welcome Settings.
3.  Click
Welcome Screen Only.
4.  Click
Save and OK.


STOP BUDDY LIST FROM APPEARING AT SIGN-ON:
1.  On the AOL Toolbar, Click Settings.
2.  Click
Buddy List Settings.
3.  Uncheck Show Me My Buddy List Window At Sign-on.
4.  Click
Save and OK.


CHANGE AOL PASSWORD:
1. On the AOL Toolbar, click Settings.
2. Click Password, then click Change Password.
3. Answer your Security question.
4. Type your current password.
5. Type your new password.
6. Type your new password again.
7. Click
Change Password.


CREATE AN ADDITIONAL SCREEN NAME:
1.  On the AOL Toolbar, click Account Settings.
2.  Click Screen Name, then click Create A Screen Name.
3.  Answer whether the new screen name is for a child.
4.  You can create a screen name of your own choice, or accept one of AOL's suggestions.*
5.  Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.
6.  On the sign-on screen, you will now have the option to sign in with either screen name.

*Note:  Know that creating a screen name of your own choice may require lots and lots of patience-- there are
so many AOL users, it is very difficult to find a screen name that's not already taken.


FIND OLD E-MAIL NO LONGER IN INBOX:
1.  On the AOL Toolbar, click Mail.
2.
 Click Saved On My PC (Filing Cabinet) to view all mail received and sent.


DELETE UNWANTED E-MAILS FASTER:
To delete a bunch of e-mails that are all together:
1.  Click the
first e-mail once.
2.  hold the SHIFT key down on your keyboard and click the
last e-mail once.
3.  Release the SHIFT key and click the DELETE key.

To delete a bunch of e-mails that are NOT all together:
1.  Click the first e-mail you wish to delete
2.  Hold the CTRL key down on your keyboard and click each subsequent e-mail
3.  Release the CTRL key and click the DELETE key.


ERASE HISTORY OF WEBSITES VISITED:
1.  On the AOL Toolbar, click EDIT,
2.  Click
Clear Toolbar History, then click Yes.


STOP AOL FROM MAKING SUGGESTIONS WHEN SEARCHING:
1.  On the AOL Toolbar, click Settings.
2   
Click Search Preference.
3.  Click Search Suggestions.
4.  Click Don't Show Search Suggestions.
5.  Click Save Setting.
6.  
Click OK.


STOP AOL FROM INTERFERING WHEN OPENING INTERNET EXPLORER OR FIREFOX:
1.  On the AOL Toolbar, click Settings.
2.  Click
Startup Settings.
3.  Uncheck
Open AOL When I Am Connected To  The Internet.
4.  
Click Save and OK.


HOW TO CHECK E-MAIL FROM ANOTHER PC THAT DOES NOT HAVE AOL INSTALLED:
1.  Open Internet Explorer (or Firefox, or another browser)
2.  Go to aol.com.
3.  Enter your screen name and password.
4.  Important: Sign out of your e-mail account when done.
